A staycation is one of Dubai's great pleasures, and more hotels now let your dog or cat come too. Most have limits on size and number, charge a pet fee, and only allow pets in certain rooms, so it pays to know the rules before you book.

Policies change, and many hotels only have a few pet-friendly rooms. The details below were reported in 2026. Always confirm with the hotel when you book, and tell them you're bringing a pet.

Before you book: a checklist

  • Weight limit: most hotels cap pets at 8 to 20 kg. Weigh your dog, and say the breed when you book.
  • How many pets: usually one per room, sometimes two or three.
  • Fees: per night, per stay, a cleaning fee or a refundable deposit. Ask what's included.
  • Where pets can go: often not in restaurants, pools, gyms or on the beach. Check the rules for lifts and lobbies too.
  • Leaving them alone: many hotels don't allow pets to be left unattended in the room. Plan your day around that.
  • Paperwork: bring vaccination records; some hotels ask for proof.

What to pack

Your pet's bed or blanket, food and bowls, waste bags, a leash, a favourite toy, any medication, and a copy of their vaccination record. In summer, plan walks for early morning and late evening: check whether it's safe to walk.
